So a few weeks back, I wrote about Vienna Mae, an independently owned drive-thru coffee spot with arguably the best espresso around. Kate, the woman who owns and operates VM, is a young entrepreneur and a great example of Seattle’s many adventurous young business women.
Unfortunately, over the weekend, a drunk driver hit Vienna Mae (which is located at the Fremont-Dexter intersection on the south side of the Fremont bridge) and left the accident unreported. So the espresso stand was not only the victim of a hit-and-run, but also the recipient of thousands of dollars in damage. As you coffee drinkers well know, an espresso machine itself is a hefty investment, particularly for a small business owner. Kate also lost her syrups, refrigerators and other equipment. So it’s time for the residents of Westlake-Fremont-Ballard-Greenlake to come out and support a local business woman.
Please head on over to Vienna Mae and give Kate and her employees both your smile and your business. And while we’re all on a tight budget these days (soon to become even tighter with the financial world continuing to dive), all the more reason to help one another through the difficult times. It would be shame to let one reckless person’s drunken foolery wipe out the hard work and well-crafted beverages that make Vienna Mae so darn delicious.
Oh no! People are f’ing jerks! Grrrrrr. Does it count if I buy you a coffee in Portland this weekend so you can in turn buy someone there a coffee? Waterfall?
